The NHTSA investigates 1.3 million Ford F-150
Ford is again under the projectors of the National Traffic Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA). Indeed, the company with the oval blue, which has carried out a dazzling series of reminders since the start of the current year, is the subject of a survey by the NHTSA. This time, the body focuses on Ford F-150 From 2015 to 2017 due to a possible gearbox problem.
A sudden blockage of the wheels
According to the information reported by the media Reutersthe investigation was said to have been launched by the NHTSA following the point of owners indicating that the transmission of their van presented a significant bug.
We can actually read that, without warning, the gearbox of F-150 years 2015 to 2017 could unexpectedly retrograde when the vehicle rolls at highway speed. This very dangerous situation could cause a sudden blocking of the rear wheels, which considerably increases the risks of accident and loss of control.
In total, more than 138 customer complaints were collected, and the problem affects 1,270,970 vehicles on the other side of the border.
The NHTSA has reported no accident, injury or death that could be linked to this potential problem.
Already a reminder concerning the same transmission
F-150s from 2015 to 2017 affected by the situation are equipped with the automatic gearbox at 6 reports 6R80 of Ford. This is not the first time that Ford has encountered difficulties with this gearbox.
In 2024, the company recalled 95,174 Ford F-150 2014 in Canada for the same problem. The 24S37 Recall of Transport Canada stipulated that, on some vans, a problem with the speed tree’s speed sensor could ensure that the high -speed retrograde gearbox. If it happened, there could be a loss of control.
It is too early to affirm whether NHTSA surveys on F-150 from 2015 to 2017 relate to the same problem as vehicles equipped with 6R80, but the problems seem similar.
