The public hits ‘The Odyssey’ for its lack of historical rigor: “Agamemnon looks like Batman”

The film calendar in 2026 has a big name marked on the calendar: ‘The Odyssey’. Christopher Nolan’s new movie It will be released next July 17 adapting one of the most famous works in history. But not everyone is happy with the result. Its first trailer has drawn severe criticism against the visual approach of certain elements.

The controversy of Nolan and the new Agamemnon of ‘The Odyssey’

For many, the lack of historical rigor ‘kills’ much of the grace. The comparison that has caused the most stir has been precisely with the great image of the trailer: Agamemnon. Users have compared his appearance to the same one the character made in the movie ‘Troy’ (2004). Director Wolfgang Petersen showed a more classic image of the visual concept that Nolan has painted on the image of the hoplites.

“I’m speechless. It looks like it’s 3D printed,” comments one user. Another, however, makes a montage in Batman’s colors. The last straw is the gold details on the helmet’s plumage.as if simulating a spinal column. That, precisely that, is what has angered the least Nolan fans.

‘The Odyssey’ tells the eventful return of Ulysses after the Trojan War. The poem, attributed to Homer, combines adventure, politics and reflection in a journey that explores the limits of human resistance and divine intervention. Throughout his journey, the protagonist faces challenges that test him both physically and mentally.

In parallel, The situation in his homeland remains constantly tense.: His prolonged absence has generated uncertainty, internal disputes and a climate of instability that threatens the continuity of the royal lineage. His family, surrounded by external pressures and difficult decisions, becomes an emotional and political counterpoint that sustains the story. That is where Penelope and Telemachus form a fundamental duo.
