Brazil loves a good caramel mutt and now he’s a movie star too! The new film “Caramel”released by Netflix, won over the public shortly after its premiere and already occupies the TOP 1 among the most watched titles in the country. Directed by Diego Freitas (“After the Universe”), the film mixes emotion, humor and affection in just the right measure. And the secret to success can be summed up in just one name: Peanutthe dog who became the protagonist alongside Rafael Vitti.

In the plot, Vitti plays Pedro, a determined chef who sees his life change completely after an unexpected setback. At this turning point, he meets a friendly street dog (the caramel that gives the film its name) and discovers, with him, a new meaning to life. Aww!

Netflix star was homeless

The charisma of the four-legged protagonist has a moving explanation. As revealed Laysa Zanetti in Estadão, the dog Peanut was rescued from the streets by his brothers Luís and Jehovah Oliveirafrom the company Animal Starsresponsible for training dogs for audiovisual and ensuring their well-being during filming.

Producers had been looking for the “perfect caramel” for months, until fate literally showed up at the door! “He appeared to us on our farm. He was a puppy, around nine months old, and it was love at first sight”, Luís told Estadão.

From then on, the mutt began a training and care routine worthy of a star… and, of course, he won over everyone on the set.
