the Warrens will (unfortunately) return… but not in the way you think

When there’s more, there’s more. The saga Conjuring will be entitled to a new spin-off and we perhaps know the name of its director.

Michael Chaves, director of Conjuring: Judgment Hourconfided: “Conjuring is definitely the end”. The statement was surprising after the thunderous success of this latest opus: almost $490 million at the worldwide box office for a budget of $55. The end for Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson, who will no longer reprise their roles as the Warren couple, in fact. The end of the “main” series of Conjuringno doubt. But just the end?

Let’s not forget that the Conjuringverse also unfolds in the series Annabelle, La Nonne and in the (for now) standalone film The Curse of the White Lady (directed by the same Michael Chaves). A number of spin-offs, prequels, sequels, even reboots (have we all done them?) are possible to continue to lay the goose that lays the golden eggs. This is already what is expected with a new project whose director has already been chosen, apparently.

UNDER THE IMPROVE OF THE NEW LINE

A prequel of Conjuring would be in project at New Line Cinema. According to Varietyit should feature the young Warrens (difficult to carry the brand Conjuring without them) and, according to Kit Borys of The Hollywood Reporter, a director would already be attached to the project: Rodrigue Huart.

This year, the promotion is double for emerging talent sinceone of his other projects, Suffer Little Childrenretelling of the Spanish horror film The Rebels of the Year 2000 (Narciso Ibáñez Serrador) would have been acquired by Paramount and would be produced by Walter Hamada, formerly of New Line behind the success of many of the Conjuringverse feature films. Everything overlaps.

As for the saga Conjuringit will also extend to other channels since a series would be in preparation on HBO Max and that The Revenge of La Lloronacontinuation of The Curse of the White Lady is also under construction, directed by Santiago Menghini.
