this Christmas movie dethroned Frankenstein with a resounding success
The new version of Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein has established itself as one of Netflix’s biggest hits in 2025. The film starring Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi accumulated an impressive 62.9 million views in just 10 days, but it seems that its absolute reign has just come to a completely unexpected end.
The film that reached number one on Netflix in several countries around the world on the day of its release was Bubbles of Love, a Christmas romantic comedy starring Minka Kelly, the unforgettable Lyla Garrity from Friday Night Lights. The film seemed destined to be just another release to complete the catalogue, but the public was enchanted by it.
Written and directed by Mark Steven Johnson, the same director of Daredevil starring Ben Affleck, Bubbles of Love follows Sydney Price, an extremely ambitious American executive who receives the opportunity to lead a renowned champagne house in France, Château Cassell. When you arrive at the location during the Christmas period, the illuminated city is ready to welcome you. Unexpectedly, she meets Henri Cassell (Tom Wozniczka) during one of the year-end parties, and little by little the feeling between the two begins to grow. However, she soon discovers that this charming man is the son of the founder of the company she wants to acquire. Even with all the professional conflict, Sydney and Henri find themselves completely attracted to each other.
To date, the title has only received eight reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, meaning it does not yet have an official rating. However, six of those eight reviews are positive, suggesting that this film may be more than meets the eye.
For now, Bubbles of Love is already number 1 on Netflix in 49 countries, according to information provided by the Flixpatrol suite, and will probably reach the top of the list in several other territories.
