This is the new Netflix movie that stars a well-known town in Seville
The cinema once again focuses on Andalusia, and more specifically on Carmona, one of the most beautiful towns with the greatest history in Spain. Its network of cobbled streets, its walls and its panoramic views will be an essential part of A ghost in the battle, … the new Netflix movie starring Susana Abaitua.
The audiovisual work, produced by the team behind the international success The Snow Society, combines drama and intrigue with a careful staging that turns Carmona into another character in the story.
A thriller set in the ETA years
A ghost in the battle is the new Netflix film directed by Agustín Díaz Yanes and starring Susana Abaitua. This tells the story of a young civil guard who infiltrates the terrorist group ETA during the years of greatest activity of the group, with the aim of locating their refuges in France and obtaining crucial information.
Although it is not based on a specific story, the plot is inspired by real events and plausibly reflects the tension, fear and moral dilemmas experienced during that time. However, the director himself recognizes in several interviews that it is a story that has a lot of truth and a lot of lies.
Possibly, this less truthful side is what has made Carmona appear in another of Netflix’s great productions. Even so, being a story with classified information, we will never know how close it is to reality.
Carmona, a movie town
Carmona is not a new destination for film and television. Its historical heritage, the golden light of its sunsets and its andalusian architecture They have turned it into a natural reference set. Films such as The Plague, Nobody Knows Anyone, Manuela, Fugitivas or The Skin of the Drum have been filmed in its streets, and such renowned series as The Invisible Girl or The Other Look.
In The Invisible Girl, in fact, Carmona was transformed into the fictional city of Cárdena, a mysterious place full of secrets that fit perfectly with the atmosphere of the series. Its versatility allows it to represent both historical and contemporary settingswhich makes it especially attractive for national and international production companies.
