This old rusty pick-up is actually a new silverado

There are so many exaggerated, ostentatious and unfortunately ugly pick-up restaurants that they all end up. But Icon ensures that his projects stand out. The workshop based in Los Angeles, California, known for preserving the original charm of its constructions, struck with a magnificent 1970 Chevrolet C20.

Although this pick-up seems to have been recovered from a breakage, it is actually entirely modern inside. As part of the ‘Derelict’ of Icon series, this Chevrolet C20 has a vintage shell with an original style, and even original rust for a really retro look, but it is based on a modern Silverado platform.

Inside, this pick-up has a personalized dashboard with equipment such as a central touch screen with a reversing camera, an audio system, modern gauges, and much more. Without forgetting the bench dressed in pretty connolly leather and checkered wool. The engine is a 5.3 -liter ECOTEC V8 borrowed from Silverado.

“The biggest challenge was to preserve the soul of the 1970s while ensuring that today’s modern and reliable technology works perfectly,” Note Jonathan Ward, founder and CEO of Icon.

“Thanks to our incredible team, we were able to maintain the full OEM functionality of the CAN Bus systems in Silverado, a major engineering realization which allows this construction to be maintained as a new truck.”

Icon does not communicate either for this particular project either, but we cannot imagine that such attention to detail is cheap. Fortunately, it will not be the only Silverado reimaginated as part of the Derelict series of Icon. The workshop indicates that a second, a C10 shorts from 1968, is already in development.
