Toyota records new pickup truck than Hilux in Brazil
Little known in Brazil, Great Toyota Tundra pickup can come soon from the US to fight with Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado and RAM 1500
Toyota’s pickup line can get bigger soon in Brazil. The Japanese automaker recently registered the Tundra model at the Inpi (National Institute Intellectual Property), indicating that the Grande pickup can reach the Brazilian market in the near future. In the US, Toyota Tundra is a competitor of the Ford F-150 pickup trucks, Chevrolet Silverado and Ram 1500, all already sold in Brazil.
Officially, Toyota has not yet confirmed the arrival of Tundra to Brazil. However, the recent arrival of the other large pickup trucks in the country may have motivated the Japanese brand to offer – or at least study – the importation of the model, which is a larger and more refined pickup than Hilux, sales leader in the average segment.
Launched in 2021, the current generation of Toyota Tundra has a modern look and should inspire the next generation of Hilux. In the US market, the pickup is always offered with double cabin, but there are elongated wheelbase options to offer more space for rear passengers. The interior has a more sophisticated finish, and the highlight is the 14 ”multimedia center. The digital panel is 12.3”.
Under the hood, Toyota Tundra has 3.5 V6 biturbo versions with or without the aid of a hybrid system. The most powerful combustion version reaches 400 hp, while the hybrid can have up to 443 hp. The traction is four wheels, while the gearbox is a 10 gear automatic.
Like their competitors (except for RAM pickups made in Mexico), Toyota Tundra is produced in the US. With this, it is likely that the Japanese brand bet on more complete versions of the pickup, to escape the internal fight with Hilux, which costs up to R $ 353,290. If Tundra really comes to the country, we can wait for prices at $ 500,000.
