Trailer: Wagner Moura In “The Secret Agent”

NEON

The official trailer has been released for “The Secret Agent,” the neo-noir historical political thriller which premiered at Cannes to widespread acclaim and was the festival’s most awarded film.

Kleber Mendonça Filho (“Bacurau”) pens and directs the film set in Recife, Brazil in 1977 during the raucous revelry of Carnival week and the political turmoil of the final years of the Brazilian military dictatorship.

A technology researcher and widower named Marcelo (Wagner Moura) suddenly finds himself an unwitting target in the dictatorship’s political maelstrom.

On the run from mercenary killers, ruthless militant, and ghosts of the past, Marcelo – with the help of a mysterious woman named Elza and her compatriots in the country’s growing underground resistance – remains focused on escaping Brazil with his young son.

Carlos Francisco, Tânia Maria, Robério Diógenes, Maria Fernanda Cândido, Gabriel Leone, Thomás Aquino, and the one and only Udo Kier co-star.

“The Secret Agent” will be released in theaters on November 26th by NEON.
