Twilight does well at the box office upon its theatrical release

Dusk returned to the big screen and showed that the saga of Bella Swan e Edward Cullen still has strength among fans. The re-release of the film, promoted by Fathom Entertainment in partnership with the Summit/Lionsgatecollected US$1.55 million in its first day of exhibitionlast Wednesday, reaffirming the cultural impact of the franchise.

The special program continues throughout the week. This Thursday, it was shown New moonfollowed by Eclipse on Halloween Friday. On Saturday, it will be the turn of Dawn – Part 1and on Sunday, Dawn – Part 2. The initiative celebrates the anniversary of the saga, which has already surpassed $3.3 billion in global box office since its debut.

Originally released in November 21, 2008, Dusk raised US$69.6 million in its first three days and became a cultural phenomenon. Directed by Catherine Hardwickethe film released Robert Pattinson e Kristen Stewart to global stardom. At the end of its first showing in cinemas, the film had US$ 192.7 million in the domestic market e US$407.2 million worldwide. Currently, the lifetime accumulation is US$197 million in the USA e US$413.7 million globally.

In the re-release, Dusk came in second place at the box office, behind only Chainsaw Man: Reze Arcfrom Sony/Crunchyroll, which raised US$1.62 million in the same period. The anime film already adds up US$23.4 million and should register a 70% drop in its second week.

In addition to its success in cinemas, the literary saga of Stephenie Meyer remains relevant. His books have sold more than 160 million copies worldwide, translated into 49 languages. Lionsgate is also preparing a television adaptation of Midnight Suna novel derived from the saga, which will be released by Netflix.

Twilight does not yet have a release date in Brazil for its re-release.
