Universal removes MEG3N spin-off from calendar

According to information from Variety, It seems that the universe of M3GAN should not be expanded, since the Universal would be trying to sell the spin-off SOULM8TE, and would have already removed the title from its release calendar.
The film, originally projected to be released on January 9, 2026 in the United States, has been removed from the calendar and is now being offered to other Hollywood studios.

It is very likely that if Universal is unable to sell the film, it will not end up being released by the studio in theaters.

Check out the film’s synopsis: “A man acquires an artificially intelligent android to cope with the loss of his recently deceased wife. In an attempt to create a truly sentient partner, he inadvertently transforms a harmless lovebot into a deadly soulmate.” The film is described as a title that follows in the tradition of “90s domestic thrillers, but with a modern, technological twist.”
Kate Dolan will direct based on a story by James Wan, Ingrid Bisu e Rafael Jordan. The film is a spin-off of M3GAN (2022) and will star Lily Sullivan, David Rysdahl, Claudia Doumit e Oliver Cooper.
