Verdone: with “Vita da Carlo” I made a complete autobiography

Rome, 27 Oct. (askanews) – This was the closing red carpet of the twentieth edition of the Rome Film Festival: Verdone in fact presented the preview of the last season of his “Vita da Carlo” here, available from November 28th on Paramount+. “I have written an autobiography that I would say is complete, among the books I have written, plus this Vita da Carlo. – said the director – I tried to get closer, even in acting, to what I am very much in normal life, I almost forgot that there was a camera”. In these new episodes, amidst amusing private and professional events, Verdone returns to the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, where he is assigned the director’s chair. Naturally the generation gap with students is felt. Regarding the comparison with young people, the director said: “If they love comedy, they have a kind of admiration for me and this makes me very happy. From them I understand the world more, the language that changes, the way of thinking also, how they relate, in a different way from how I related. At the same time I give them all my experience, to move forward”. In the series that Verdone directs together with Valerio Vestoso, the director’s level of popularity is clearly visible, stopped at every corner by people asking for selfies or messages for relatives and friends. So much so that at a certain point he dreams of an escape away from Italy. “The selfie is sometimes very stressful, especially if you find yourself with a lot of people, in very crowded conditions. Then it becomes a bit complex there, I try to be kind to everyone because the public has been very kind to me. – said the director – There are moments, frankly, when you can’t take it anymore. And yet they don’t understand it, if you dare to say no they’ll immediately tell you that you’re an asshole”.
