The film tells the true story of a Sardinian shepherd who refused millionaire offers to sell a piece of land where he went to graze his animals to a real estate group that would have built a luxury beach. When he refuses yet another offer, the negotiation turns into a legal battle in which Giovanna enters the scene, a judge born and raised in those places called to resolve the conflict.
«It is also the story of a community in our country caught between the need for work and respect for the territorywhere it has always happened that we are pitted against each other, where conflict brings rifts, pain and suffering”, underlines Milani, who constitutes half of the golden couple of Italian cinema together with his wife, Paola Cortellesi. «And it is in stories like this that I look for the humanity that has remained hidden in each of usalways seeking a possible meeting point between opposing fronts even when fomented hostility seems to prevail.”
Also in the cast of the film Diego Abatantuonoin the role of the entrepreneur who would like to buy the land, and Geppi Cucciariin the part of the judge.
«Virginia, Diego, Aldo and Geppi walked with me in this project. And we all walked with him, Ignazio Loi, an 84 year old Sardinian with the purity of a child and the wisdom of the shepherd he was for seventy years”, Milani explains further.
