To be honest, I had to do some tests. The Raptor R is slightly updated under the hood for 2024. Ford has dosed the aspiration with a little Clarin and, breathing more easily, added 20 HP for a dizzying total of 720 CV. But what is most important is what has not changed. The same 5.2-liter supercharged V8 lies in the passenger compartment and, with the V8 of the TRX RAM extinction for 2024, the Raptor R is 300 HP above the only other V-8 competitor, the 420 HP Silverado ZR2.

A breed perhaps in the process of extinction

Although I didn’t have an old single valve pick-up to make a comparison, the double valve system is really magical at speed. It is easier to notice it in moments sideways on the dry bottom of a lake, with the two outdoor shock absorbers in compression and the two shock absorbers on the internal extension wheels. Both series of opposing shock absorbers are managed by ECU hundreds of times per second. This allowed Ford engineers to adjust the response of the vehicle to the roll of the body, and they did it well. It seemed to me that I could pick up the Raptor r as for my feet, even if I had already put it sideways.

It is not necessary to be sideways to note that The suspensions are magical. The Raptor R exceeds the hole at speed that would bring down less powerful trucks and, thanks to the 37 -inch series tires, it does a short job in any climbing scenario on rock. And, of course, the Suspensions of the Rapor R absorb a high -speed jump in such a fluid way that it is not known when exactly has landed.

The new suspensions give enormous safety on the dirt road. All 720 HP feel perfectly manageable thanks to the precise and accurate control of the body conferred by the control of the extension. We have not inflated the suspensions for the short return journey to the base, so the quality of driving on the street was best described as … the guide of a 37-inch mud tires on reduced swelling pressure.
