We've reached the end of the year and while many people watch the best Christmas movies, I have some recommendations for something a little different. The best streaming services are once again full of new horror films for you to dive into. Whether you're after a classic or a new release, there's plenty to choose from throughout December. The film follows a San Francisco health inspector and his colleague who discover that humans are being replaced by alien duplicates who are perfect clones but have no humanity or empathy. Official Trailer | 2002 – YouTube Watch Where: Paramount+ (worldwide) When: December 1 The Ring is a classic, and nothing says holiday cheer like a scary woman crawling out of your TV, right? This film is worth revisiting now that it's streaming on Paramount+. Gore Verbinski's much-loved (and feared) horror film stars Naomi Watts as a journalist who discovers a cursed VHS tape that leaves its viewers dead seven days later. Don't miss these You can watch the original 1998 Japanese film on Shudder, as I highly recommend both the original and the remake.Scary Movie 2 Scary Movie 2 (2001) Official Trailer #1 – Anna Faris HD – YouTube Watch Where: Paramount+ (worldwide)When: December 1st Sometimes you need a silly, light-hearted comedy, and Scary Movie 2 is sure to scratch that itch. Despite being a critical failure, it's a great option for people who don't take its horrors too seriously. As far as parodies go, the Scary Movie franchise is one that many of us turn to whenever we want to be entertained by the most iconic horror films. Paramount Plus negotiates Reflection in a Dead Diamond Reflection in a Dead Diamond | Official Trailer | Shudder – YouTube Watch Where: Shudder (worldwide) When: December 5 Shudder's first exciting addition is Reflection in a Dead Diamond. Available worldwide on the horror streaming service in early December, I'll definitely be checking this one out. The film follows a man who lives in a luxury hotel as he becomes intrigued by his neighbor, who reminds him of his wilder years as a spy on the Riviera during the 1960s. Considered more thriller than horror, it might be the lightest option on the list, but still an intriguing entry into Shudder's December library. Official Trailer | Coming to Shudder – YouTube Watch on Where: Shudder When: December 12 Influencers is set in the picturesque south of France, but it's about to get a lot darker as we follow a dangerous story of obsession and jealousy. Here, CW and his new girlfriend Diane are celebrating their first anniversary, but soon find themselves being tormented by an influencer named Charlotte, who befriends Diane and won't leave the couple alone. which is also streaming on Shudder and is an excellent double bill.The Jester 2 The Jester 2 (2025) Official Trailer - YouTube Watch where: Shudder (US, UK), rent or buy (AU)When: December 12The Jester 2 joins its predecessor on Shudder this month, for those of you brave enough to see the scary supernatural killer for a second time.This sequel follows teenage magician Max, who ends up crossing paths with the sinister Jester in Halloween night (but of course). After this unfortunate encounter, she must outsmart a supernatural killer whose magic is terrifyingly real. But will Max survive? With a glowing 92% rating from Rotten Tomatoes, it was a surprise hit with critics. The film revolves around detectives on the trail of a serial killer named Mr. Shiny who, after reappearing from an absence of nearly 20 years, begins leaving cryptic clues at crime scenes. Maybe it's not the most appropriate film to celebrate the new year, but it's really good.
