Who is Steve Rogers’ (Captain America) son in the ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ teaser?
Although the actor knew how to keep the secret well, and from his own Marvel Studios they made no mention of Chris Evans in that popular chair video, it was a clamor that Steve Rogers, the original Captain America, would be in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. The film made headlines due to the leak of its first teaser, in which Rogers appears with a baby, probably the result of his relationship with Peggy Carter after the end of ‘Avengers: Endgame’. Obviously, the question fans are asking is: who is this baby? Does Captain America have children?
Captain America is one of the longest-running characters in Marvel Comics, and Its origin dates back to 1940, when during World War II it was created as a super soldier to combat Nazi forces.. After defeating the Red Skull, he was frozen for decades until he came back to life and joined a new great group of superheroes known as The Avengers. His private life has always been discreet, but some children that he has had throughout history are known, but very few on Earth-616, the one in official continuity.
In fact, one of them, named Sarahappears in a ‘What if…?’ who wonders what would have happened if the heroes had never returned to Earth after the ‘Secret Wars’ 1984. Another, Jamesappeared in an animated film, which would later reach the comics.
Sarah’s origin is extremely confusing, since it is about the daughter of Steve Rogers and Rogueleaving it unexplained how they were able to conceive a baby due to her powers. Furthermore, in that story, Rogue is not called Anna Marie, but Carol, since she steals not only Carol Danvers’ (Captain Marvel) powers, but also her personality.
On the other hand, James is the son of Rogers and Black Widow in the movie ‘Next Avengers’in which the members of the group have children: Torunn is the son of Thor and Sif, Henry Pim Jr. is the son of Ant-Man and the Wasp, Black Panther is the son of T’challa and Storm, and Francis Barton is the son of Clint (Hawkeye). When parents die, Iron Man and Vision raise their children to become the next group of Avengers. Originally from Earth-10943, they arrive on Earth-616 in ‘Avengers’ #1 (2010) thanks to Kang’s multiversal machinations.

Does Steve Rogers have children in official continuity?
Yes, but adopted. Arnim Zola creates a baby in Dimension Z, being rescued by Captain America, but both remaining trapped in said dimension for 11 years. Later, as a preteen, Ian Rogers He is brainwashed into believing that his adoptive father is brainwashed, and is convinced to fight it. Steve saves him again, and Ian is raised by Sharon Carter.
When Ian finally arrives on Earth-616, as Nomad -Steve’s old alias-, tries to find his father, who is now an older man. Nomad helps the Secret Avengers to defeat Zola, going on to work alongside the new Captain America, Sam Wilson. Throughout this entire story, Ian considers Steve and Sharon to be father and mother respectively.

Ian would also participate in the ‘Secret Wars’ (2015), although not in the main series, but in the tie-in ‘Hail Hydra’of which he is the protagonist. There he meets Steve and Sharon’s biological daughter, Ellie Rogers. Ellie was part of the resistance on Battleworld, but unfortunately, in their attempt to escape together, she ends up dying due to serious injuries.
With all this, who of all of them will be Rogers’ son in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’? Everything indicates that the old Captain America is Dr. Doom’s target in the film, since his actions at the end of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ had an impact on the death of Victor von Doom’s parents. Rogers returns to the past to have his happy ending with Peggy, making it more than evident that his baby is not adopted, although we do not know his identity at the moment.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ premieres December 18, 2026.
