“Zootopia 2” becomes the 4th biggest debut in history; see how much you raised

“Zootopia 2”Disney’s animated adventure about a town of animals, grossed about US$556 million (around R$2.9 billion) in global cinema ticket sales, according to studio estimates released this Sunday (30).

The figure covers box office revenue from Wednesday (November 26) to Sunday and represents the fourth biggest global opening of all timeDisney reported.

Also in cinemas, the musical film “Wicked: Parte 2”from Universal Pictures, grossed US$92.2 million (around R$492 million) around the world, bringing its total to US$393.3 million (around R$2 billion) in its first 10 days.

The fervor for the two films was good news for theater owners, who expect audiences to pack theaters during the holiday season. Annual movie ticket sales have not yet recovered to pre-pandemic levels seen in 2019.
