Zootopia 2 breaks record and targets 1 billion at the box office

The box office of Zootopia 2 promises to be one of the biggest sensations of the year based on the first numbers recorded. According to THR, the film made almost US$54 million in China alone after two days of release. In the US and Canada, between Tuesday and Wednesday, the film made US$39 million.

Now, the expectation is that the film will surpass US$500 million worldwide by Sunday and in the coming weeks it will reach the billion mark, which was also reached by the first film. In terms of comparison, Zootopia 2 is performing similarly to other hits such as Moana and Frozen 2, in the USA. If the look goes to China, however, the feat is more impressive – the opening remains the biggest for an American film in the region since 2020.

There are those who bet that the sequel will reach 1.5 billion, as it will have little competition in theaters until Avatar 3 opens in mid-December, and also because it is one of the few options for the whole family that are available in theaters today.

The film is already showing in Brazilian cinemas.
