‘Zootopia 2’ is the biggest debut for an animated film – 12/02/2025 – Illustrated

“Zootopia 2” became the biggest debut for an animated film of all time. The continuation of Disney’s success hit theaters last Thursday (27) and grossed US$556 million in its first weekend, equivalent to around R$2.9 billion. The data was released by Disney.

In the United States, where the domestic box office reached US$156 million, a mark that was favored by the American holiday of Thanksgiving. Globally, in turn, revenue benefited especially from China, where the animation reached US$276 million at the box office.

“Zootopia 2” also became the fourth biggest opening of all time for any film. In 2016, Disney grossed more than $1 billion from the original “Zootopia.”

The sequence is already showing in Brazilian cinemas.
