Zootopia 2 surpasses Fantastic Four numbers in just 5 days

Disney’s new hit, Zootopia 2made history at the global box office. In just five days of screening, the film has already grossed more than Fantastic Four: Getting Started achieved throughout his time in cinemas.

While the Marvel quartet closed its global box office with US$521 million, Zootopia 2 invoiced US$556 million right at its debut, driven by the Thanksgiving holiday in the United States.

The result shows the strength of animation, which brings together Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde again in a new detective adventure. The film’s impressive performance reinforces that audiences still strongly connect with productions aimed at the whole family.

Fantastic Four: Getting Started arrived in theaters with great expectations. It was touted as one of the pillars of the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it ended up falling short of what the studio expected.

Even though it was considered a moderate success, the film was far from the numbers that marked Marvel’s golden age.

Already Zootopia 2 showed the opposite: that the public is still willing to rush to the cinema when it comes to a good animated story.

The strength of animation at the box office

The comparison between the two films helps to understand the current moment in cinema. While superheroes face a drop in interest, Disney has once again found fertile ground with its animated productions.

In markets like China, Zootopia 2 had an explosive debut, breaking records and consolidating global success. The animation became, in just a few days, the biggest release of the year so far.
