Ford Raptor: 15 years of maximum performance, performance and off -road capabilities
LA Ford Raptor line celebrates 15 years in the market, consolidating itself as a true off -road icon. Designed by Ford Performance, the brand’s high performance division, this version was inspired by the low rally vehicles -a famous competition of Cross Country in the United States -, winning the nickname of “monster of the tracks” for its off -road capacity.
The original model, based on the F-150, was the starting point for a family that today includes the Ranger Raptor and the Bronco Raptor. The idea behind the Raptor was to offer users a pick up capable of mastering the most extreme land. The project was in charge of a small group of engineers and designers passionate about the Off Road, generating great expectation even before its launch. «When the news of the project was leaked with the code name ‘Raptor’, we noticed a huge interest in the idea of a factory off -road racing vehicle, as well as a great enthusiasm by name. It was so much the impact that Raptor ceased to be just an internal code and became the official identity of the truck: F-150 Raptor », Mark Rushbrook, Global Director of Ford Performance recalled.
The development of the Raptor did not focus solely on power and design, but on the creation of a high performance suspension capable of facing the changing land of the desert. «In a high -performance vehicle, the engine is usually the star. But in the Raptor, true jewel is the suspension. The development of Fox shock absorbers is a clear example of how Ford uses competencies to test new technologies », Rushbrook pointed out.
The first generation of the F-150 Raptor (2010) introduced 2.5-inch ByPass internal shock absorbers, establishing a new standard in off-road performance. Its extensive route allowed to maintain high speeds in difficult terrain without compromising durability or comfort.
Over time, technology evolved. The second generation adopted 3 -inch Fox shock absorbers, further improving their performance. Then, the arrival of the Live Valve suspension controls marked a before and after, allowing a dynamic adjustment of impact absorption. In 2024, the third generation incorporated double -valve live valve shock absorbers, automatically adapting to driving and land to offer superior control at any speed.
Raptor’s legacy was also present in the competition. The new Raptor T1+, which achieved third place in its debut in the Dakar 2025 rally, equips Fox shock absorbers, selected by the pilots after extensive tests that demonstrated their performance and comfort in long days.
Over time, the Raptor line expanded to other segments. After the debut of the F-150 Raptor, the family grew with the Ranger Raptor in 2019 and the Bronco Raptor in 2021, the latter inspired by the demanding ultra4 competitions. Although each model has their own personality, everyone shares a common DNA: precision engineering and extreme performance.
In Argentina, the F-150 Raptor is the most extreme version of the Full Size pick up. Its advanced technology, combined with a vanguard structural engineering, guarantees an impressive performance, offering controlled management on any surface. Since its arrival at the local market, more than 1,300 units have been sold, representing more than half of the sales of the F series in the country and consolidating its success.
